Michele Catasta is President & Head of AI at Replit, where he is shaping the future of software creation through AI agents. In 2024, he architected and led the launch of Replit Agent, which has driven over two orders of magnitude in company revenue growth to date. Previously, he was Head of Applied Research at Google X and Google Labs, focusing on Large Language Models and contributing to the coding capabilities of PaLM and PaLM 2.
Earlier in his career, Michele was a Research Scientist and Instructor at Stanford University, pioneering the application of Transformer architectures to source code. He earned a Ph.D. in Computer Science from EPFL and held research positions at MIT Media Lab, Google, and Yahoo Labs.
Beyond his operating roles, Michele is an active angel investor with more than 100 investments in the AI space, and serves (or has served) as an advisor to Bessemer, Coatue, Fellows Fund, and Obvious.
