Mark Chen is the Head of Frontiers Research at OpenAI, where he focuses on multimodal modeling and reasoning research. He has led significant projects, including the development of DALL·E, the integration of visual perception into GPT-4, and the advancement of Codex and Image GPT.

Before joining OpenAI, Chen worked as a quantitative trader at several proprietary trading firms, such as Jane Street Capital, where he built machine learning algorithms for equities and futures trading.

Chen graduated from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) with a bachelor's degree in mathematics with computer science. He has also been involved in academic research, contributing to various influential papers in the field of artificial intelligence and machine learning.

In addition to his professional work, Mark Chen is a coach for the USA Computing Olympiad team, reflecting his commitment to fostering young talent in the field of computer science.
